General Settings

The "General" tab located within the Content Management System's "Setup" section allows you to view and/or modify some of your website's basic settings.

First, in order to begin modifying settings, you must chose which website you would like to administer (should you have more than one site) from the table on the left, labeled "Select a Web to Administer."

Should you wish to add a new site, simply click on the "Add" icon located in the upper right-hand corner of this table. As long as you belong to a group with sufficient access rights to do so, you will be able to specify an additional site, which will be within the same system but will have its own document tree within the "Page Structure" table of the CMS "Content" section and appear as a separate site.

Once you have selected the desired site, you can move on to edit the various settings contained within the right-hand table, labeled "General":

Name:

Here you can specify the name of your website, as you would like it to be listed under in the future.

Status:

Here, you can specify whether the site will be active or not, by either checking or unchecking the provided box.

Send 404 Headers:

This check-box allows you to specify whether 404 error messages will be displayed to viewers when a requested page cannot be found.

403 Custom Error Page:

This drop-down menu contains a list of all of the pages within your website.

From this list, simply select the page you wish to be displayed to users when they request a page that requires special access rights, with its content restricted to the viewing of only certain privileged groups.

Generally, the login page should be selected for the 403 error page, as by requiring users to enter their usernames and passwords before displaying the requested page's content, you can determine whether or not users belong to access groups that have permission to view the page.

404 Custom Error Page:

The drop-down menu within this field also contains a list of all of the pages within your website.

Here, by simply selecting the desired page from the provided list, you can specify a custom page (which you could have created within the CMS for this specific purpose) that will be displayed to users whenever there is a 404 error, which occurs when a requested page cannot be found.

Once finished modifying these basic settings of your website, simply click on the "Update" button located at the bottom of the table, and all of the modifications made will be applied to the site.
